"Yuan Chuang" Forum: Professor Raul Payri from Spain visits the institute for academic exchange

In line with the spirit of the thematic work conference "Starting a new era, empowering innovation, and composing a new chapter" at the school, the Power Institute actively creates a platform for academic innovation and exchange for young teachers called the "Yuan Chuang" Forum. It continuously promotes development cooperation and communication with international high-level research institutions and universities, strives to expand the academic horizons of young teachers, and explores new growth points for international scientific and technological cooperation. Leveraging the high-quality academic exchange advantages of the "Yuan Chuang" Forum, it promotes resource sharing and exploration of new teaching models for postgraduate courses on "cutting-edge disciplines and progress," strengthening academic perspectives and intercultural communication skills. On March 8th, Professor Raul Payri from Valencia Polytechnic University in Spain was invited to the school for academic exchange and delivered a lecture. The event was conducted in a combination of online and offline modes, with more than 230 faculty members and students from the institute participating.

Professor Raul Payri's presentation was titled "Experimental Observations and Direct Numerical Simulation Methods for Primary Atomization of Sprays." He shared advanced optical testing experimental schemes for sprays, such as shadowgraphy, laser scattering, and X-ray methods. He explained the characteristics, principles, and instrument arrangements of various measurement schemes, showcased the test results, and discussed the effects of adjusting injection pressure and background pressure on the primary atomization of sprays. Professor Raul Payri's lecture generated strong interest among the faculty and students of the Power Institute. Attendees actively asked questions and interacted closely with Professor Raul Payri. This activity further deepened participants' understanding of the process of primary spray atomization and the mechanism of relevant parameters during spray breakup, providing reference and inspiration for further improvement and optimization of related experimental schemes.

Brief introduction of the speaker: Professor Raul Payri obtained his Ph.D. in Industrial Engineering from Valencia Polytechnic University in Spain in 1999 and has been a full-time professor at the university since 2009. Currently, he serves as the Vice Director of the CMT Research Institute and the leader of the Fuel Injection Systems Team at Valencia Polytechnic University. His research mainly focuses on fuel injection, spray, and combustion in thermodynamic mechanical systems.

"Yuan Chuang" Forum: The "Yuan Chuang" Forum is jointly organized by the Youth Academic Association of the Power Institute and the Center for Teaching and Faculty Development. Since 2022, it has successfully held 12 sessions of the "Yuan Chuang" Forum, inviting six foreign experts from countries such as the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, Malta, Japan, and Spain, and ten domestic experts including Changjiang Scholars, Outstanding Overseas Young Talents, and Chief Engineers of Research Institutes. The total number of participants has exceeded 2,000, receiving widespread praise from faculty and students at the institute.
